Nation Gears Up to Honor Civil Rights Icon Jesse Jackson with Memorial Arrangements in Place

The world is mourning the passing of civil rights leader Reverend Jesse Jackson, who peacefully passed away at his Chicago home on February 17, 2026, at the age of 84 due to progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).

The Rainbow PUSH Coalition has organized a series of memorial services to celebrate Reverend Jackson's impactful life, starting with a public viewing at their Chicago headquarters on February 26 and 27.

Memorial services will also be held in South Carolina on March 1 and in Washington, D.C., on March 4, reflecting his deep connections and work in these areas.

"The People’s Celebration," a large public tribute, will take place on March 6 at the House of Hope in Chicago, welcoming thousands to honor Reverend Jackson's legacy.

The week of mourning will end with a private service on March 7 at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition headquarters, with a livestream available for the public to participate from around the world.
