Alysa Liu won the 2026 Olympic gold with the support of coaches Phillip DiGuglielmo and Massimo Scali, who played a crucial role in her journey.

Coaching Partnership

Liu, a figure skating star from the Bay Area, began working with DiGuglielmo and Scali in 2020 after her father decided to make a coaching change. The duo helped refine her skills and artistry, leading to her historic Olympic victory.

In 2024, after a brief retirement, Liu returned to training under DiGuglielmo and Scali, choosing to make her comeback on her own terms.

Coaching Changes

Liu’s father, Arthur Liu, has been actively involved in her coaching decisions. In 2021, he replaced DiGuglielmo and Scali so Alysa could train with a different coaching group in Colorado Springs.

Despite past changes, Alysa Liu reunited with DiGuglielmo and Scali for her comeback and continued to work with them through her successful 2026 Winter Olympics campaign.
