The former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on his birthday at his Norfolk home on suspicion of misconduct in a public office. He was held in police custody for 11 hours before being released pending further investigation by Thames Valley Police.

The Metropolitan Police has now issued a statement in response to additional accusations against Andrew, following the release of files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The files contain email exchanges between Andrew and Epstein that allegedly suggest the sharing of sensitive information during Andrew's time as the UK’s trade envoy.

The files also mention Andrew and his accuser, Virginia Giuffre, as well as photos of him with unidentified women, prompting an investigation by the Met urging Andrew’s personal protection officers to provide any relevant information.

The Met is assessing information related to potential human trafficking and sexual exploitation facilitated through London airports but clarified that no new criminal allegations regarding sexual offenses have been made. They encourage individuals with new information to come forward, emphasizing that all allegations will be taken seriously.

While the Met emphasized that no wrongdoing has been identified among Andrew's protection officers, they maintain that the investigation is independent of the ongoing misconduct probe by Thames Valley Police. Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing in response to these allegations.
