Two students are facing criminal charges in connection with an alleged rape incident at a Washington high school, officials and news reports confirm.

Officers arrested "two juveniles" at Mark Morris High School in Longview on the morning of Thursday, February 19, following allegations of criminal misconduct at the school.

The juveniles, who remain unidentified due to their age, were charged with second-degree rape, unlawful imprisonment with sexual motivation, indecent liberties with forcible compulsion, and indecent exposure, according to city officials.

The two teenagers were taken into custody shortly after 8 a.m. on February 19, as reported by KPTV. Their legal representation status and pleas remain unknown as of Friday, February 20.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

Longview police detectives are actively investigating evidence and conducting interviews related to the alleged rape, city officials have disclosed.

In addition to the criminal allegations, the department is reviewing Mandatory Reporting requirements in connection with the statutory reporting obligations stemming from the broader investigation.

Prosecution and Community Response

Although the high school is in Cowlitz County, prosecutors from Clark County will handle the case against the two teens, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

Cowlitz County prosecutors have cited the need for an independent review due to staff connections with individuals involved in the case, particularly those with ties to the Mark Morris High School basketball team.

The two arrested teens were scheduled to appear in court on February 20, according to prosecutors. The Longview Police Department reaffirmed its commitment to thoroughly and objectively investigate every aspect of the case.
