Daughter Attacked Repeatedly by Woman Found in Bedroom
A mother in Pocatello, Idaho, walked into her daughter's bedroom to find another woman stabbing her child. Marita Gonzales has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery for the attack on the 32-year-old woman in their shared apartment.
The incident occurred on Sunday, February 15, when the daughter invited Gonzales home after meeting online. Gonzales was taken into custody at Bannock County Jail following the assault.
At around 10 p.m., the mother heard noises and discovered the stabbing. Gonzales also cut the mother's face with the knife before fleeing the scene. The daughter sustained multiple stab wounds and was airlifted to a hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she is in stable condition.
The police initially sought an unknown male assailant but later identified Gonzales through surveillance footage. She was arrested on February 17 and appeared in court on February 18, where she was held on a $1 million bond.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Pocatello Police Department. Police believe the attack was an isolated incident but continue to pursue leads.
