A mother in Pocatello, Idaho, discovered another woman stabbing her 32-year-old daughter in their shared apartment. Marita Gonzales has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery in connection with the attack. She has been taken into custody at Bannock County Jail.

The daughter had invited Gonzales to their home after meeting online. The mother heard suspicious noises and found her daughter being stabbed 18 times. Gonzales also allegedly cut the mother's face before fleeing the scene. The daughter sustained multiple stab wounds and was airlifted to a hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she is in stable condition.

The mother was treated at a local hospital and has been released. Initially, police were searching for an unknown male suspect but later identified Gonzales through surveillance footage. She was arrested on February 17 and appeared in court on February 18, where she was held on a $1 million bond.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Pocatello Police Department. It is unclear whether Gonzales has entered a plea or obtained legal representation. The police believe the incident was isolated and are continuing to gather evidence.
