After Holiday Bash, Conan O’Brien Opens Up About Rob Reiner's Passing
Conan O'Brien spoke about the deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, following an argument between Rob and his son Nick Reiner at O'Brien's holiday party the night before the tragic events.
In an interview with The New Yorker on February 20, O'Brien expressed his sorrow over the sudden loss of Rob's influential voice in the country after the couple was found dead in their Los Angeles home in December 2025.
Nick Reiner, 32, was arrested on the same night and later charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Reports emerged that a heated argument occurred between Rob and Nick at O'Brien's Christmas party before the tragic incident.
Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 70, were discovered deceased on December 14, 2025, with initial reports suggesting the involvement of the Los Angeles Fire Department in providing medical assistance at the scene.
It was stated that Nick's behavior at O'Brien's party the night before the deaths was described as unsettling, including asking guests if they were famous. He reportedly had an uncomfortable encounter with Bill Hader before leaving the event.
The Reiner family confirmed the deaths in a statement to Variety, expressing deep sorrow over the sudden loss. Nick, who appeared in court wearing a suicide prevention vest, did not enter a plea during his initial court appearance, citing the early stage of the legal process.
Rob and Michele Reiner's other children, Jake and Romy, released a statement describing their profound grief and requesting privacy and compassion from the public amidst their unimaginable loss.
Nick Reiner is expected to enter a plea during his arraignment on February 23.
