Designer Will Breaux chose to build his dream home in Houston using repurposed shipping containers, deviating from traditional architectural styles. The three-story, 2,500-square-foot house on McGowen Street features 11 industrial containers creatively stacked to form living spaces and a rooftop deck.

Breaux, envisioning this project since the early 2000s, faced challenges finding a designer to bring his unconventional idea to life. Taking matters into his own hands around 2011, he delved into container-based construction, studying structural requirements and building codes to ensure safety and durability.

Shipping containers were chosen for their strength, weather resistance, and adaptability as building materials. Breaux meticulously planned the layout, incorporating industrial elements and open-plan spaces to create a modern, urban residence with ample natural light and a spacious feel.
