Olympic Star Kamila Sellier's Latest Update on Blade Face Injury
Polish speed skater Kamila Sellier shared an inspiring update after a blade accident during the 2026 Winter Olympics race. She expressed gratitude for the support and reassured followers that she was doing well.
Sellier, 25, sustained a severe injury near her eye when she collided with Team USA skater Kristen Santos-Griswold during the women's 1500m event on February 20. Santos-Griswold's skate blade caused the injury, leading to Sellier being stretchered off the ice.
Journalist Mateusz Ligęza reported that Sellier remained conscious and suffered damage to her zygomatic bone, also known as her cheekbone. CBC reporter Devin Heroux suggested poor ice conditions at the venue may have contributed to the accident.
Sellier, a short track speed skater, had been sharing her Olympic journey on social media. She had previously helped Team Poland secure silver at the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in March 2025.
In May 2025, Kamila married fellow speed skater Diané Sellier, who showed unwavering support for his wife during her recovery from the Olympic accident.
