Polish speedskater Kamila Sellier provided a positive health update following an injury at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. Sellier, 25, sustained a facial cut near her left eye in a collision during the women’s 1,500-metre event, pausing the competition.

The incident involved Italy’s Arianna Fontana and American skater Kristen Santos-Griswold. Santos-Griswold was penalized for an illegal lane pass, while Fontana continued racing and finished fifth. Sellier was taken to a hospital after being carried off on a stretcher.

Polish officials confirmed Sellier underwent surgery and was in good condition, awaiting further tests to check for eye damage. Sellier's teammates discussed the rarity of such accidents in speedskating and highlighted the need for caution due to the sport's speed and intensity.

Sellier later communicated with supporters via Instagram from her hospital bed, expressing thanks for the support and assuring her recovery. She emphasized her strength and positive outlook despite the ordeal. The competition ended with South Korea's Kim Gilli and Choi Min-jeong winning gold and silver, and Corinne Stoddard of the U.S. claiming bronze.
