Following the incidents, Shia LaBeouf faced charges of simple battery and was accused of using homophobic slurs during the altercations at a New Orleans bar. He was arrested after allegedly striking multiple people at the Royal Street Inn & R Bar near the French Quarter.
Despite the charges, a New Orleans magistrate judge ordered LaBeouf's release without requiring bail. In a tweet, LaBeouf wrote "Free me" on his account after being released from custody.

Jeffrey Damnit, a local entertainer also known as Jeffrey Klein, described being attacked by LaBeouf. Damnit reported that LaBeouf hit him multiple times, pushed him, and used homophobic slurs, claiming that his appearance provoked LaBeouf's aggression.
Videos of LaBeouf's aggressive behavior went viral, showing him shoving and hitting individuals. One video depicted him mouthing a homophobic slur while being detained by police. Despite efforts to remove him from the area, LaBeouf remained aggressive.
