Johnny Gaudreau's widow, Meredith Gaudreau, and his parents were present during the men's hockey semifinal against Slovakia on Friday, February 20. Team USA emerged victorious, securing a spot in the gold medal championship against Canada on Sunday, February 22.

Meredith expressed her pride and sorrow for Johnny via her Instagram Stories on Friday, lamenting his absence. She also shared an endearing photo of their 3-year-old daughter, Noa, adorned in Team USA attire with an American flag in Milan, Italy, before the game. In addition to Noa, Johnny and Meredith have two sons, Johnny Jr., 2, and Carter, 10 months.

Meredith Gaudreau Celebrates Son's 1st Birthday

Johnny Gaudreau, a forward for the Columbus Blue Jackets and a potential member of the 2026 Olympic hockey team, tragically passed away in August 2024 at the age of 31. He and his brother, Matthew Gaudreau, were fatally struck by an alleged drunk driver while biking to their sister's wedding in New Jersey.

The Columbus Blue Jackets expressed shock and devastation at the loss, highlighting Johnny's qualities as a hockey player and family man. Meredith, who started dating Johnny in 2018, paid tribute to him on social media, calling him the best dad and partner.

Meredith announced her pregnancy with their third child at the funeral of Johnny and Matthew in September 2024. She welcomed son Carter in April 2025, expressing love and gratitude for her growing family. Johnny is also survived by his parents, two sisters, and his brother Matthew's wife, Madeline Gaudreau, who gave birth to their son, Tripp, after the tragedy.
