Two families are in mourning as two suspects, Joseph Amador and Lauren Machado-Juarez, face charges of capital murder in connection to a deadly shooting at a hookah lounge in San Antonio.
Fight at Hookah Lounge Leads to Tragedy
The incident unfolded late Tuesday night when a fight broke out inside Myst Hookah + Ultra Lounge, leading to the suspects being escorted out. Minutes later, a vehicle driven by Machado-Juarez with Amador as a passenger returned to the scene with its lights off, firing shots into the outdoor patio.
Amid the chaos, two victims, Derek Brown and Kyung Lee, were fatally shot. Witnesses described the harrowing moment when gunshots rang out, causing panic among patrons who sought safety.
Suspects Apprehended After Days
Authorities tracked down the suspects through vehicle registration, leading to their arrest two days after the shooting. A handgun was recovered from the car, and both individuals had outstanding warrants unrelated to the incident.
The investigation continues as the community grapples with the tragic violence that disrupted what was meant to be a night of music and socializing at the lounge.
