What's Behind the Intense Gaze?

All through dinner, my wife’s best friend’s four-year-old daughter stared intently at me as I sat across from her. She could hardly eat, so I checked myself for any flaws, but nothing stopped her gaze.

Sensing the awkwardness, I asked her why she was staring and if something was amiss. The table fell silent, anticipating her answer. Finally, the little girl spoke up:

“Mommy tells Daddy you ‘drink like a fish,’ I’m just waiting to see how.”
