Outrage Over President Trump's Women's Hockey Comment - Dave Portnoy's Controversial Advice
Dave Portnoy shared his thoughts on the recent uproar surrounding President Donald Trump’s interaction with the U.S. women’s hockey team.
Portnoy, 48, discussed Trump’s call to the U.S. men’s hockey team after their 2026 Winter Olympics victory on the Wake Up Barstool show on Monday, February 23. During the call, Trump invited the men’s team to the State of the Union address and faced criticism for not extending the same invitation to the women’s team.
Portnoy criticized those who were upset about the situation, questioning why people were angry that the hockey team interacted with the president. He mentioned that receiving a call from the president should be seen as an honor.
Despite the men’s team planning to attend the State of the Union, the women’s hockey team declined the invitation due to prior commitments following the Games.
A USA Hockey spokesperson expressed gratitude for the recognition of the women’s team's achievement and explained that the athletes were unable to participate due to academic and professional commitments.
While the women’s hockey team declined the State of the Union invitation, they still intend to celebrate their victory. Rapper Flavor Flav announced on Instagram that they accepted his invitation to celebrate in Las Vegas.
