Beloved Australian radio presenter Pete Diskon has passed away at the age of 75 after battling a heart-related illness. He died peacefully at home with his wife Shirley by his side. Pete's broadcasting career was cherished by listeners across Queensland, Tasmania, and New South Wales, where he was more than a radio host but a comforting voice in their daily lives.

Pete spent many years in the industry, working in various regions before settling in Eurobodalla, New South Wales. He was a familiar voice on ARN's classic hits station 2EC for over a decade, where he entertained and informed audiences. Throughout his career, he conducted interviews with notable personalities, covered significant news stories, and maintained a high level of professionalism and respect.

Despite retiring from full-time commercial radio in 2016, Pete remained dedicated to community media. He volunteered at local stations, sharing his passion for music and conversation. Additionally, he served as a Eurobodalla Shire Councillor from 2021 to 2024, demonstrating his commitment to public service and the community's well-being.

Pete was known for his devotion to family and community. He was actively involved with the Batemans Bay Seahawks Aussie Rules Club and was a devoted supporter of the Richmond Tigers. Described as kind-hearted and jovial, Pete's wife Shirley recalled their enduring connection and shared that while his health had been a challenge, he is now at peace. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity, carried on by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
