Former Today anchor Katie Couric shared her thoughts on the current situation at the show, where Savannah Guthrie is away indefinitely as the search for her missing mother, Nancy, continues.

Savannah, 54, took a break from the morning talk show after her 84-year-old mother went missing on February 1. Hoda Kotb, a former anchor, has been filling in since then.

In an article published on February 26 by Variety, Couric, who was an anchor on Today from 1991 to 2006 before moving to CBS, expressed her views on the challenges the staff must be facing and on Hoda Kotb stepping in.

According to Couric, the situation is unprecedented, making it hard to compare to anything else. She emphasized the impact on the close-knit team of morning shows when a member faces a crisis like this.

Couric noted that the Today Show team is handling the situation as best as they can, acknowledging the difficulty of continuing the show while dealing with the story of a missing colleague.

The search for Nancy has been ongoing for nearly a month, with investigators considering it a possible kidnapping. Reports suggest the FBI is coordinating with Mexican authorities, although it's not confirmed if she may have been taken across the border, given the proximity of her home to Mexico.
