After Sinkhole Swallows Cars, Nebraska-Omaha Women's Hoops Stars Rescue Drivers

Two women's basketball players from the University of Nebraska-Omaha became heroes on February 24. Olivia Borsutzki and Esra Kurban helped two drivers escape from a sinkhole after noticing the incident on their way back from practice.

Borsutzki shared that she initially thought it was just an accident but realized the severity when she saw people trapped in the sinkhole. She and Kurban took immediate action to assist the stranded drivers.

Borsutzki described how she struggled to help one of the drivers out of the sinkhole and had to call for additional assistance. Kurban quickly joined in, and together they managed to rescue both individuals before the police arrived.

The teammates reflected on the intense experience, with Borsutzki expressing how the reality of the situation hit her afterward. Despite the potential danger they faced, they remained focused on aiding those in need.

Borsutzki emphasized the importance of taking action in such situations rather than just recording them on smartphones. The university's men's basketball team also showed their support for the players' quick thinking and bravery.

Borsutzki criticized bystanders who recorded the incident instead of offering help, highlighting the need for community involvement in emergencies. She stressed that lending a helping hand should be a natural response in such circumstances.
