Shia LaBeouf Faces Arrest Once More After Mardi Gras Trouble
Actor Shia LaBeouf, 39, was arrested in New Orleans for alleged Mardi Gras-related incidents. He was charged with misdemeanor simple battery after reportedly striking a person at a restaurant on February 17. The incident took place at the Royal Street Inn & R Bar near the French Quarter during Mardi Gras festivities.
LaBeouf turned himself in at Orleans Parish jail following a new arrest warrant. His lawyer stated that the treatment he received, including posting a high bond and being jailed twice, was excessive. LaBeouf has a pretrial hearing scheduled for March 19 and was advised to seek drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
After his arrest, LaBeouf returned to Mardi Gras festivities. He acknowledged his wrongdoing in an interview, expressing regret for hurting others. LaBeouf admitted to struggling with personal issues but expressed reluctance towards rehab, claiming his problems go beyond substance abuse.
Regarding the incident, LaBeouf mentioned a "small man complex" tied to anger and ego rather than alcohol. He shared feeling uncomfortable around gay individuals, acknowledging his arrest was related to an incident involving them. LaBeouf recognized his inappropriate behavior and concluded his statement on the matter.
Former Disney star Christy Carlson Romano distanced herself from LaBeouf post-arrest. If you need help with substance abuse, contact the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357).
