Colin Gray Convicted of Killing in Georgia School Shooting Family Drama
Colin Gray was found guilty of murder and manslaughter charges after his son, Colt Gray, allegedly killed four people in Georgia with a rifle kept in their family home. The Georgia jury deliberated for less than two hours before Colin, 55, was convicted on all 27 charges on Tuesday, March 3. Colin faces 10 to 30 years in prison for each murder charge and one to 10 years for each manslaughter charge.
Prosecutors accused Colin during the trial of buying an AR-15-style rifle for his son as a Christmas present. Colt, then 14, used the rifle to carry out a mass shooting at a high school in Winder, Georgia, on September 4, 2024, resulting in four deaths and nine injuries. The prosecution argued that Colin allowed his son access to the weapon despite concerns about his behavior.
Colin's defense claimed he was unaware of his son's violent intentions and had sought help for his son's mental health issues. His estranged wife testified that their son struggled with anxiety and needed professional help, but Colin allegedly did not address these issues. The trial also revealed that Colt had pictures of another school shooter, Nikolas Cruz, in his room.
Colt, now 16, has pleaded not guilty to 55 felony counts related to the shooting incident. His trial date has not been set yet. Colin's sentencing for the murder and manslaughter charges will be determined in a subsequent hearing. The outcome of his case will have significant implications on the tragic events that unfolded in Georgia.
