After Tragic Loss, 'Deadliest Catch' Star Todd Meadows' Last Night Remembered
Deadliest Catch star Trey John Green III shared his memories of Todd Meadows, his bunkmate who tragically passed away at sea. Meadows, a 25-year-old fisherman, died while crabbing off the Alaskan coast on February 25. Green recalled the crew's efforts to save Meadows after he fell overboard, calling it a challenging task.
Captain Rick Shelford confirmed Meadows' death on March 1, describing it as a tragic day for the crew of the Aleutian Lady. Meadows' death was reported to be a result of a fishing-related incident while filming for the show.
The U.S. Coast Guard representative stated that despite efforts to save Meadows, he could not be resuscitated after being recovered unresponsive by the crew. The Coast Guard is currently investigating the accident to determine its cause and any necessary corrective actions.
Discovery Show Footage
Green revealed that the tragedy was captured on camera during filming for Deadliest Catch. The production cycle was ending when the accident occurred, with a producer and deck cam operator present on the boat. Green expressed uncertainty about how Discovery will handle the footage.
Following Meadows' death, the crew is taking time off to mourn their loss. Green mentioned that only the fishing crew will return in a few days to continue the season without the rest of the production team.
Remembering Todd Meadows
Green reflected on Meadows' character, emphasizing his love for his family and children. He expressed gratitude for knowing Meadows and questioned how they could move forward after the tragic incident. Green defended Meadows, stating he was not at fault for the fatal accident.
