After Multiple Engagements, Rex Heuermann Arrested Following Contact with Sex Workers

Rex Heuermann, the suspect in the Long Island serial killer case, allegedly communicated with sex workers extensively and watched videos of women being killed online before being arrested for the Gilgo Beach murders.

Heuermann, 62, reportedly used burner phones and a fake Tinder account under aliases to contact sex workers and conducted numerous searches related to violent pornography and the Gilgo Beach killings using a Gmail account.

The Suffolk County district attorney revealed these details in response to a motion from Heuermann's defense team to suppress evidence, arguing that his online activities were crucial in understanding his behavior and motives.

Arrest and Legal Proceedings

Heuermann was arrested in July 2023 and charged with the murders of several women linked to the Gilgo Beach case. He pleaded not guilty and his trial is set to commence in September after Labor Day.

In a related case, a female serial killer named Rebecca Auborn confessed to causing fatal fentanyl overdoses in four men, leading to her indictment in October 2023.

Legal Defense and DNA Evidence

Heuermann's defense argued that obtaining DNA evidence from discarded pizza crust violated his privacy rights, but the judge ruled that advanced DNA testing could be used in the trial to establish his connection to the murders.
