Reid Wiseman and His Career

Reid Wiseman is the commander of NASA's Artemis II lunar flyby mission. He was selected by NASA in 2009 and has a background as a naval aviator, Navy fighter pilot, and test pilot.

Reid and Carroll Wiseman's Marriage

Reid and Carroll got married in 2003 and were together for 17 years until Carroll's passing at the age of 46 in 2020.

Carroll Wiseman, a registered nurse, battled breast cancer for five years before succumbing to the illness. The couple kept her health struggles private, leaving details about the stage of her cancer diagnosis unknown.

Carroll Wiseman is survived by her two daughters, Katie and Ellie, whom Reid is raising as a single parent. Reid has spoken about the challenges and rewards of being the sole caregiver to his daughters since Carroll's passing.

Prior to his mission, Reid made arrangements and had discussions with his daughters about his will and trust documents, preparing them for any potential risks associated with the Artemis II launch.

Reid emphasized the importance of open communication within families, expressing that it's crucial to have such conversations as one never knows what the future may bring.
