From Four to Five Figures: Reza Farahan's Stunning Shahs of Sunset Salary Boost
Reza Farahan, a former cast member of Shahs of Sunset, has revealed details about the low pay he and his castmates received in the early days of the Bravo show. He shared insights from his memoir, "Memoirs of a Gay Shah: My Story of Family, Fame, and Becoming a King," which was just released.
In his memoir, Reza mentioned that during Season 1 of Shahs of Sunset, the cast earned minimal pay, and Bravo tried to keep them unaware of their true value. He indicated that they were earning four-figure amounts per episode, which did not cover their expenses.
Reza also criticized the production quality of the show's debut season, describing it as "dumpy." He highlighted shooting confessional interviews in a storage closet and the lack of a professional makeup artist.
Before Season 3, Bravo offered a pay raise to the cast, which prompted them to negotiate collectively. Eventually, they agreed to a new contract that significantly increased their per-episode salaries, bringing them up to five figures for the season.
Reza has since moved on to a new series, The Valley: Persian Style, after Bravo paused Shahs of Sunset for some time. It's unclear if he had to renegotiate his salary for the new show or if he remains in the lower pay range.
