Behind the Scenes: Food Network's Latest Spinoff Draws Inspiration from Survivor

Food Network has shifted from its traditional cooking shows to focus on competition series. Their latest creation, Chopped Castaways, is a unique spinoff inspired by Survivor.

What is Chopped Castaways?

The show will feature elite chefs competing on an island, facing challenges to secure ingredients and cooking over open fire. It combines physical challenges with cooking rounds.

In Season 1, 12 chefs will participate, starting with team challenges akin to tribes in Survivor. As the season progresses, chefs will compete individually to win a $100,000 grand prize.

Hosts and Premiere

Hosted by Ted Allen, Chopped Castaways will also feature judges Gabe Bertaccini, Maneet Chauhan, and Marcus Samuelsson. The series premieres on May 12 at 9/8c on Food Network, with streaming available on HBO Max the following day.
