In his second year as president, Donald Trump drew criticism from former supporters Candace Owens and Marjorie Taylor Greene after threatening Iran on Easter Sunday through a post on Truth Social.

Trump's post demanded that Iran comply by a certain deadline or face consequences, which received significant backlash from Owens, Greene, other Republicans, and the American public at large.

Marjorie Taylor Greene condemned Trump's actions as anti-Christian and accused the U.S. of starting an unprovoked war against Iran. She also criticized Israel for possessing nuclear weapons and urged Christians to pursue peace instead of escalating conflict.

Greene and Trump had a falling out in late 2025, with Trump publicly severing ties and referring to her as "Marjorie Traitor Greene." Greene had previously advocated for the release of Jeffrey Epstein files.

Candace Owens echoed Greene's sentiments, calling the Trump administration "satanic" and labeling Trump as the "Mad King." She expressed concerns about Trump's mental well-being and the influence of religious fanatics in his administration.

Iran rejected a ceasefire proposal and called for a permanent end to the conflict, emphasizing a need for guarantees against future attacks. Trump doubled down on his threats, warning of potential military strikes and pressuring Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz.

Israel also heightened tensions by attacking an Iranian gas field, a crucial energy source for Iran. The situation has significant implications for global oil shipping, with Tehran refusing to allow U.S. and Israeli vessels through the strait since the conflict began on Feb. 28.
