Legendary Egyptian UFO Cult Leader Appeals for Early Release
Dwight “Malachi” York, the leader of a Black supremacist Egyptian-themed cult, is requesting early release from federal prison due to a medical condition causing body swelling. York, founder of the United Nuwaubian Nation of Moors, was arrested in 2002 for alleged child molestation and financial crimes at the cult's Georgia compound.
Currently 80 years old, York is serving a 135-year sentence at ADX Florence Supermax prison in Colorado since 2004. His petition filed in February states he suffers from hereditary angioedema, a condition leading to severe swelling that can be life-threatening if it affects the airway.
The filing alleges that York's medical treatment in prison is inadequate. His attorney emphasizes the need for care due to his critical health condition. However, Sheriff Howard Sills, involved in investigating the cult, opposes York's release, labeling him a serial rapist and child molester.
York has been convicted of transporting minors for sexual purposes and financial crimes, along with admitting to numerous counts of child molestation and influencing witnesses. Former U.S. Attorney Max Wood, who prosecuted York, notes the significance of the case and its impact on major legal proceedings.
