Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is facing a hit-and-run charge after he allegedly struck an empty parked car with his vehicle and drove away in Napa County on Friday, investigators said.

An eyewitness in Yountville called 911 around 2:30 p.m. after they said they saw a driver in a convertible strike the car, the Napa County Sheriff's department said.

The witness said the convertible's driver briefly stopped after the crash and drove away, according to the sheriff's office. The convertible was found a short distance away blocking a road and the driver was identified by his license as Paul Pelosi, the sheriff's office said.

The 86-year-old allegedly told investigators that he hit something, but he did not know what he hit so he kept driving, according to the sheriff's department.

"He drove the car until his car became disabled and was no longer to continue driving," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

An alcohol screening device detected no alcohol on Paul Pelosi, according to the sheriff's office.

Pelosi was not arrested, the sheriff's office said.
