Tragedy in SF Bay: Rescue Mission Intensifies After Boat Capsizes Near Alcatraz

At least one person is dead and two people are still missing amid a massive rescue effort near Alcatraz in the San Francisco Bay.

Video online shows the rescue efforts of crews trying to help people after a boat accident in the water between Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge.

19 people were on the vessel when it happened, with 3 taken to a nearby hospital.

There’s more than a dozen rescue personnel on scene. Officials say there was a fire on the boat about 600 yards off Alzatraz. It launched somewhere near the St. Francis Yacht club.

The Coast Guard has confirmed that at least one person has died and 16 people were rescued from the icy cold water in the bay.

During the rescue, the boat ended up becoming totally submerged.

Rescue efforts continue in the water, as officials confirm that two people are still missing.

One dog that was on the boat also died.

This is a developing story.

Earlier this week, a capsized sailboat in San Francisco Bay triggered a rescue off the San Mateo County coast as three sailors ended up in the water.
