Why Lindsay Clancy's Life Hangs in the Balance After Mistrial

Lindsay Clancy’s defense attorney said he worries about the killer mom “every day” since her mistrial and said she’s “suicidal,” requiring round-the-clock monitoring.

Defense attorney Kevin Reddington told NBC News the 36-year-old Duxbury, Massachusetts, mother is “not very good,” after her triple murder case ended Friday with a deadlocked jury.

“She’s strong. She has incredible family support,” Reddington, 75, told the outlet. “But she is suicidal. I mean, she’s on 24/7, one-on-one suicide watch. I worry about her every day.”

Clancy’s high-profile case is in limbo as prosecutors decide their next move, including possibly retrying it on the same charges, working out a plea deal or dropping it altogether.

The veteran defense lawyer said Clancy doesn’t hold any resentment toward the people who testified against her during the five-week trial or even toward the prosecutors who attempted to paint her as cold and calculating when she strangled her three children Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months.

“She was hurt by the way they would talk about her and the way they would attack her. She was hurt, but she never once expressed anger towards anybody in the system,” Reddington said. “She doesn’t have it in her DNA to be angry with anyone.”

Reddington asked the jurors to find her not guilty by reason of insanity, claiming she was in the throes of severe postpartum psychosis and hallucinated a voice commanding her to kill the kids and herself.
