Selena Gomez's Surprising Take on Aging: What's Her Secret?
Selena Gomez looks forward to getting older.
“I don’t feel like it’s a bad thing,” Gomez, 34, told People on Wednesday, September 16. “Getting older has been so fun. I’m not scared at all. I love getting older.”
She continued, “Things are going to change and things are going to sag, but you’re alive. I think age is just a number in many ways.”
As for what she wants for the rest of her 30s, the Rare Beauty founder said she hopes to “be happy.”
“I’m still doing things that I love, and I hope that if I stop loving what I do, that I will stop,” the Only Murders in the Building star explained. “I actually never really place value in what I do because it can destroy you instantly. I like to be appreciative of everything that comes my way, and I just hope for great things.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Gomez gave her best makeup hacks, including how she gets away with a no-mascara look.
“Wearing mascara is fun, but it’s just kind of heavy for a light day,” she began. “With our tinted brow gel, I get a dark brown and use it on the ends of my lashes after I curl them.” Gomez noted that the technique gives “just the right amount” of a lift to your lashes.
Her daily makeup routine is actually “quite simple.”
“I use two pumps of foundation and brush it all over,” she shared. “I use my eyebrow gel, and then I use Bouncy Blush, my mascara and lip oil. Sometimes people don’t like the natural beauty look, but that’s kind of my whole identity now.”
Gomez also opened up about her previous signature smokey eye, which she donned in 2016. While fans loved the look, the singer doesn’t see herself going back to it. “It was such a hectic period, and of course I had to rock a smoky eye,” she said with a laugh. “I was trying to be cool! It was probably more interesting because I’m now chilling, which is great.”
