A California man was arrested after he allegedly drove to a hospital and confessed to killing his wife

The alleged murder occurred at a Morgan Hill home on Saturday, October 3, with the couple’s three children believed to be inside at the time, Morgan Hill Police Department Sgt. Sean Bayard told NBC Bay Area.

That morning, Roy Anthony Lopez arrived at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose and reportedly confessed he killed his wife, police said in a Monday, October 5, news release.

First responders then found a woman with injuries inside a parked car at the hospital, according to authorities.

She died of her injuries after paramedics provided emergency medical care, police said.

Police didn’t specify the nature of her injuries or what led to her death.

San Jose police officers detained Lopez, 37, who was taken into custody by Morgan Hill police and questioned.

He was later arrested on a murder charge, police said.

At the Morgan Hill home, officers found his three children, ages 14, 6 and 3, according to authorities.

“The children were safely escorted to the Morgan Hill Police Department and later released into the custody of the Santa Clara County Department of Family and Children’s Services,” police said.

The Morgan Hill Police Department didn’t immediately respond to an inquiry or request for comment from Us.

Inside the home, investigators found signs indicating there had been a homicide, police confirmed to NBC Bay Area. They said the alleged killing didn’t involve a firearm.

“During the investigation officers determined that it had been committed in Morgan Hill and that the subject then drove the victim to Good Samaritan,” Bayard told the news outlet.

While speaking with the news outlet, one of Lopez’s neighbors, Pranhleen Bariana, said police were in the neighborhood for several hours on Saturday.

“It’s heartbreaking,” Bariana said. “No circumstances justify taking a significant other’s life.”

The Morgan Hill Police Department said in the news release that it “extends its heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

The department encourages anyone with information on the homicide to contact Bayard at (408) 607-3032 or by email at sean.bayard@morganhill.ca.gov.

Morgan Hill is about a 20-mile drive southeast from San Jose.
